One Catholic Priest & three nuns killed after truck trampled over their Bolero
In a tragic road mishap, a cement laden truck trampled upon a Mahindra Bolero in Ri Bhoi District and killed all six occupants of the Bolero Vehicle.
The incident occurred in Sumer when the driver of the truck on the way to Guwahati lost control over the steering and jumped the divider and trampled over the Bolero from the opposite lane.
The ill fated occupants were identified, Fr.Mathew Das, Parish Priest and Principal St.John’s HS School, Barama, Sr. Melamine Dantes, Sr. Promila Tirkey, Sr.Rossie Nongrum, Mairan (Teacher) and the Driver.
The bodies were shifted to Nongpoh Civil hospital for Post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the Assam Christian Forum expressed deep pain over the tragic loss of innocent lives due to reckless driving.
The Forum appealed to the Meghalaya Government for a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident and compensation be paid to the victims.
The ACF expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families at the loss of their loved ones, including the Diocese of Bongaigoan and the Fatima Sisters Congregation.
