One dies of COVID-19, death toll rises to 149 in Meghalaya
A 38-year-old man died on Saturday after tested positive for COVID-19, taking the death toll to 149 in the state.
Debaris Lyngdoh, a resident of Umktieh, Umroi in Ri Bhoi district was tested positive on being admitted at Woodland hospital on March 18, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
“The patient however expired today morning due to severe Covid-19 pneumonia with severe sepsis,” he said.
The state has recorded four new COVID-19 cases and six recoveries from East Khasi Hills District on Saturday.
So far, the state has detected a total of 14,012 COVID-19 cases out of which 28 are active cases, 13,835 recovered and 149 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 20 active cases, Ri Bhoi 7 and West Garo Hills 1.
On the other hand, of the 3,90,640 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 3,76,628 were tested negative for the virus even as 9 persons are in institutional quarantine and 19 under home quarantine.
There are 96,661 entrants from outside the state.
