One driver and two women from Mizoram killed after vehicle falls into deep gorge in East Jaintia Hills
In a tragic accident on Wednesday, one driver and two female passengers were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a deep gorge in East Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya.
Police informed that one Tata Sumo, on reaching Ratachera village, veered off the main road, went to the wrong side, and thereafter plunged into a deep gorge of approximately 200 feet.
Police said that the vehicle was boarded by two female passengers from Guwahati and was heading toward Aizwal, Mizoram.
Police said due to the accident, the driver along with one female passenger died on the spot while one female passenger was shifted to Umkiang PHC in critical condition. But she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver was identified as Nasim Ahmed Choudhury, 25 years old, from Sonabarighat part II, Silchar, Assam while the two female passengers were identified as Zothanpari, 51 years old, of A-20, Tuithiang VENG, Tithing, Aizwal, Mizoram and Jenny Lalrinthangi, 33 years old, of Thinghlun (Lushaicherra), PS: Kanhmun PO: Zawlnuam, Mamit Dist, Mizoram.
