One more arrested in Umpleng murder case
One more person has been arrested in connection with the recent quadruple murder case in Umpleng village, East Jaintia Hills District.
“In connection with Khliehriat PS Case No. 49(07)2024 u/s 103/3(5) BNS, where four dead bodies were recovered in Umpleng area on July 6, suspected to have been murdered, four persons have been arrested so far,” district police chief Giri Prasad said on Saturday.
Prasad stated that the details of the arrested persons are not being disclosed in the interest of investigation.
The Investigation is ongoing to trace and to arrest the other person(s) involved in the case, Prasad added.
On July 6, four individuals were found brutally murdered, with their heads severed, in the remote village of Umpleng. Police reported that the victims were also found with their hands and feet bound in a forested area on the outskirts of the village.
The deceased, identified by their family members, are Ravi Rai (23) of Patha Elam, Nepal; Rajesh Rai (26) of Koshi Anchal, Nepal; and Nasar Kyndait (33) of Dkhiah East Pohshnong, East Jaintia Hills District. One body remains unclaimed.
