One more dies of COVID-19, 130 new cases detected in Meghalaya
Another person died of COVID-19 on Monday taking the number of fatalities to 161 even as 130 new cases were detected, surging active cases to 1,403, while 114 have recovered from the viral infection.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the new cases include 92 in East Khasi Hills district, 15 in East Jaintia Hills district, 11 in Ri Bhoi district, 10 in West Jaintia Hills district and 2 in South West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War informed of 114 patients who have also recovered from the viral infection, 78 are from East Khasi Hills, 26 West Jaintia Hills, 4 Ri Bhoi, 4 East Jaintia Hills, 1 South West Khasi Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 16,124 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,403 are active cases, 14,560 recovered and 161 deaths.
With 1,021 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 138 cases, 106 in West Jaintia Hills, 59 cases East Jaintia Hills, 32 West Garo Hills, 26 in West Khasi Hills, 14 in South West Khasi Hills, 4 East Garo Hills, 1 in South Garo Hills, 1 South West Garo Hills and 1 in North Garo Hills.
On the other hand, of the 4,51,828 persons who have tested for COVID-19 in the state as on date, 4,35,704 were tested negative for the virus even as 297 persons are in institutional quarantine and 1,106under home quarantine.
There are 1,11,378 entrants from outside the state.
23, 789 healthcare workers had received the first dose of Covishield vaccine and 17,711 had received the second dose, while 37,391 frontline workers got the first shot of the vaccine and 24,881 got the second dose as on Monday.
Moreover, 1,04,505 persons from among the general public were vaccinated with the first dose and 12,704 were inoculated with the second dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 across the State.
