One positive case of Japanese Encephalitis confirmed in Khanduli Village
The Meghalaya Health Department has confirmed one positive case of one positive case of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in Khanduli Village, West Jaintia Hills District bordering Assam -Meghalaya.
The case was confirmed by a vector study conducted in Khanduli, a border village with West Karbi Anglong (Assam).
“What is more alarming is that an entomological study found high densities of Culex mosquitoes and larvae in the area,” according to the Meghalaya Health Department.
The team of entomologist also took the opportunity to raise awareness to the families and people in the area about the danger and the preventive measures that can be taken in order to prevent from the harmful effects of JE.
Khanduli SC, lying just across from the abandoned Karbi Dispensary, faces a growing threat of vector-borne diseases.
On preventive measures, the Department advocated on the need to clear stagnant water, use mosquito nets and spraying insecticides regularly.
