One unit of blood can now benefit four patients
A grand total of 47 units of blood including 03 from lady donors from the screened donor list of 62 volunteers was received during the blood donation Camp on Saturday last at HQ EAC, IAF, Shillong.
The camp was organized by Station Medicare Centre HQ EAC (U) and AF Station Laitkor Peak.
The camp was inaugurated by Gp Capt JK Pandey CO , HQ EAC (U) and attended by Dr Charis Budnam of Regional Blood Centre, Meghalaya and Dr Nongrum of Woodland Hospital Shillong.
The CO HQ EAC (U) underlined the inportance of blood donation.
Dr Charis from Pasture Institute Blood Bank urged the people to donate more blood and save lives.
She also informed that one unit blood can benefit upto 4 patients in need due to the technology available at her institution.
Dr Nongrum from Woodland Hospital thanked the Air Force community to have come in huge numbers to make the event successful.
The medical teams emphasized on the need to educate the local populace towards blood donation and conduct more such events to prevent the shortage of blood in Meghalaya state.
