ONGC reaffirms its commitment to Assam’s growth and welfare
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing oil and gas production from its Assam Asset, contributing significantly to the state’s revenue through statutory payments.
Referring to reports that appeared in a section of the press, the oil company emphasized that it remains focused on operational excellence and that internal organizational adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery, not to undermine local interests.
In an official statement, the ONGC stated that it has always prioritized community welfare and local interests, underscoring its deep integration into Assam’s economic and social development since its inception.
“As a responsible corporate entity, ONGC has continued to invest in socio-economic development through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. These initiatives cover areas such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, and skill development, contributing to the welfare of the communities where the company operates,” the statement said.
In light of media reports suggesting that the ONGC has been working against the interests of Assam, the oil major emphasized that its operations in the state are aligned with Assam’s development goals and that the company plays a crucial role in contributing to the state’s economy.
ONGC also reiterated that any internal organizational adjustments are aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and improving service delivery, not at compromising local interests.
