Only BEd passed can teach in schools by 2030: Education Minister
JOWAI: Minister of Education Lahkmen Rymbui today said only B.Ed passed will be able to teach in schools by 2030 while only PHD passed will be faculties in college by 2021.
He told a gathering after the launched of College website and inauguration of the boys and girls Hostel and Semi Smart Class Rooms of Kiang Nangbah Government College in the presence of Wailadmiki Shylla Local MLA and Chairman Meghalaya Resource Mobilization Committee and Nujorki Sungoh, MLA and Chairman Meghalaya Economic Development Council, Officers from the Educational Department and other dignitaries witness the historic achievement of the college, the long awaited dreams of the College.
Rymbui said that the national policy of education’s draft policy indicated the closure of seven DIET and BEd college in Rongkon, Tura.
The Minister said that the present Government is aware of the various problems face in the field of Education and is working in the tremendous constraint to meet challenges justified.
He congratulate all the teaching faculty for the good result produce and is proud to say that the Government institutions do have the best faculty be it at the school level, Secondary level, Higher Secondary level or college level inspite of many drawbacks where the government institutions admits students from all sectors, therefore students getting the opportunity to study in government institutions should make use of this opportunity.
He urged the students to have a responsibility with a duty and preserve and maintain the cleanliness of the newly inaugurated hostel as well the college campus. He further urged the students to have responsibility of ownership, owning the college and the facilities provided and preserve the assets of the college.
He advice the students to have an aim and have no regret for the course opted, if so to script and edit the script opted according to changes, at the same time to use new technologies and social media cautiously. He encouraged the students to be ambassadors for change in the society to fight against all crimes, especially crimes against women and child children and other menaces in the society.
He has also assured that the memorandum submitted by the student Union for the development of the college will be looked into.
He desired that the Government Colleges should get NAAC accreditation for the benefit of the students pursuing for their studies and with regards to this, a meeting with the Principal and coordinators will held on 15 September, 2019 for the review of the process of NAAC accreditation.
Two rank holders in the field of Mathematics and Physics namely Mr. Bedingfield Lyngdoh and Wandaka Langstang respectively were felicitated and awarded with cash of Rs. 5000/- each. The others students securing first division were also felicitated.
The Principal of the college in his welcomed address has informed that the the Semi smart class rooms has been constructed by Rashtriya Uchchattar Shikska Abhiyan (RUSA).
