Only BJP went to help the people during lockdown: Nadda
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda said on Thursday held an online meeting with the state and district office bearers of the party in Meghalaya.
The BJP national president appreciated the state team for reaching out to the public to assist them during the lockdown, a statement issued by the party said.
It said the national president also lauded the efforts of the party to connect with the people through a ‘sampark abhiyan’ and inform them about the benefits of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Nadda expressed his gratitude to the people who have come to regard the free ration being distributed by the Central government as ‘Modi Rice’ or ‘Khaw Modi’ in the state.
“Nadda also highlighted how during the lockdown, no other political party left the comforts of their AC rooms other than BJP. Only the BJP went to the people to help them with their problems,” the statement said.
Earlier, the state president Ernest Mawrie expressed his gratitude to Nadda for meeting with the party functionaries.
Highlighting the COVID-19 related works done by the party in the state, Mawrie informed that the party had distributed 44687 packets of food, 1,10,800 face masks and 18,300 bottles of sanitizers to needy people.
Expressing concern over the closure of the tourism sector due to the lockdown, Mawrie sought the central intervention to kick-start the sector in the state.
Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of the BJP, who was also present in the online meeting, stressed on the need to strengthen the organisation in the state so as to better serve the people. He said that a political party is supposed to work on the ground among the people.
