Open letter send to Union Minister: Bad Roads in National Highway 6
Seinraij President OR Shallam on Sunday has shot off an open letter to Union Minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari to draw the attention towards the poor conditions of National Highway 6 passing through West Jaintia Hills District.
Shallam in his letter to Gadkari said “As a senior and a responsible citizen of the Meghalaya State and a nation at large would like to bring to your kind information on the following grievances and issues faced by the people of the Jaintia Hills region in the state of Meghalaya regarding the NH-6 connecting Shillong, Meghalaya to Silchar, Assam of which has been known to be a lifeline between Jaintia Hills region to the rest of the state of Meghalaya.”
“The present condition of the road is pathetic and left unattended with atleast 80% of the road stretch has been under potholes. In shorts, the road is at its worst condition for years leaving the public with nothing but hues and cries. With the traffic jams and road blocks exceeding hours and hours, the public are left with hardships and facing unconditional problems obstructing the normal transportation and conveyance of the commuters in all sphere of life necessities.” Shallam said.
Shallam in his letter he slams Meghalaya Chief Minister that he is busy in attending his party meetings in other states as well as enjoying his life, the people of the Jaintia hills region in the state of Meghalaya are now orphaned and left with nothing but dilemma in regards to transportation and conveyance via the NH-6 and sougth the intervention of Union Minister for immediate renovation of the road in Jaintia hills region.
