Operation Praghat: Most wanted Jihadi arrested in Dhubri
In its continued fight against jehadi activists under Operation Praghat, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police caught the most-wanted jihadi, identified as Jaheer Ali, from Khudigaon in Dhubri district on Sunday.
The arrested Jaheer Ali is the son of Baher Ali (SK), who hails from Khudigaon Part 2 under Bilasipara Police Station. He was arrested in connection with case No 21/2024 registered with the STF Police Station.
The STF has so far apprehended 12 clandestine operatives, including Bangladeshi nationals, who were allegedly working under the direction of Md Farhan Israk—a close associate of Jasimuddin Rahmani, the chief of the banned terrorist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT). The network reportedly infiltrated India to propagate extremist ideologies.
A Bangladeshi national, Md Sad Radi alias Shab Seikh, a resident of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, was sent to India for this purpose.
The operation led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, mobile phones, and various incriminating documents from the accused.
