Opp chief whip demands magisterial inquiry

SHILLONG: Opposition chief whip and Mawlai MLA Process T Sawkmie on Friday demanded the state government to institute a magisterial inquiry into the recent attack on the secretary of Hima Nongspung at Balkhawa village, Ri Bhoi District.

In a statement issued, Sawkmie said the state government should constitute a magisterial inquiry regarding the case of Michael Warjri, secretary of Hima Nongspung, so that the truth will come out.

He also expressed surprise to see the attitude of the Assam police, when they arrested Warjri, instead of handing him over to the Ri-Bhoi police to do the needful they took him to Assam and put him in lock up.
