Opp Congress announces list of 39 candidates

The opposition Congress on Friday announced the list of candidates which include sitting MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala and sitting Gambegre legislator Saleng A Sangma from Tura parliamentary seat for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The Election Commission of India is yet to announce the date of polling for the MP election.

Pala has been representing 1-Shillong Parliamentary Constituency for the past 15 consecutive years since 2009 when he was first elected as MP after former Shillong MP late P R Kyndiah retired from active politics.

The list of 39 candidates was approved by the Central Election Committee (CEC), AICC general secretary KC Venugopal said.

It also includes 6 candidates from Chhattisgarh, 6 from Karnataka, 16 from Kerala, 1 Lakshadweep, 1 Nagaland, 1 Sikkim, 1 Tripura and 4 Telangana.
