Out of 22485 students from Garo Hills only 7323 students cleared the SSLC Examination 2023
The result of the Secondary Schools Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination declared on Friday reflected a sorry state of affairs of the education sectors in Garo Hills region as the figures speak out loud and clear.
Out of 22485 students who appeared from Garo Hills District in the Board Examination conducted in March this year, only 7323 of them passed the examination while 15162 of them did not cleared the Board. The overall pass percentage of each of the five districts did not even cross the 40 percent marks.
In seven districts of Khasi Jaintia Hills region, 28,795 students while 19306 cleared the board and 9489 of them failed the examination.
A grand total of 51280 students appeared the Board Examination while 26629 of them cleared the board and 24,651 did not make it and the overall pass percentage is 51.93 %.
According to district wise percentage of pass, 9925 students appeared from West Garo Hills District but only 3631 students passed while over 6000 students failed giving a percentage of 36.58 %.
From East Garo Hills District, 2897 students but 1020 students passed while remaining 1800 did not make it and the pass percentage is 35.21 %.
In South Garo Hills district, 755 students passed out of 2709 students who appeared the examination and 1600 students failed the Board examination and the percentage is 27.78%.

3381 students appeared from North Garo Hills District but 955 students passed and 1400 students failed and the percentage is 28.45 %. From South Garo Hills District 3573 students appeared but 955 students passed while over 1300 students failed and the percentage is 26.73 %.
The pass percentage in the seven districts of the Khasi Jaintia Hills region was fairly good with East Khasi Hills District being the highest with 73.87 % while the lowest is South West Khasi Hills District with 50.30 %.
In East Khasi Hills District, students appeared is 12797 out of which 9453 passed while over 3000 students failed and percentage is 73.87%. From West Khasi Hills District, 2272 students appeared while 1329 passed and around 900 students did not cleared the examination and the percentage is 58.49%.
1649 students appeared from Eastern Western Khasi Hills District and 1063 passed while over 550 failed and the percentage counts was 64.46%.
South West Khasi Hills District had 1841 students while 926 of them passed and another 900 failed with a pass percentage of 50.30%.
There were 4073 students who appeared in Ri Bhoi District and 2421 passed while over 1500 failed and the percentage counted at 59.44 %.
The West Jaintia Hills District had 4107 students out of which 2920 cleared the examination and over 1200 of them failed and the percentage is 71.10 % the second highest pass percentage in the State.
There were 2056 students in East Jaintia Hills District while 1194 students cleared the board while 900 of them did not make it and the percentage is 58.07 %.

At this juncture ,perhaps there is a need to carry out a “complete systems analysis” of the important Education Sector of the state.
In this day and age, there would be no other Option but to improve upon the Existing Database and make it more Dynamic.
The Human Resource behind the Effort(i.e. the Teachers) also need to be realiatically documented , for improving their Controbution and Performance.
