Over 125 houses damaged in Gambegre
NCP legislator from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma on Wednesday urged the state government to provide immediate relief to over 125 families whose houses were damaged by the cyclone.
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said that the Sitrang cyclone has caused a lot of damage in his constituency where around 125 houses have been damaged.
“Out of this, 70-80 houses have been fully damaged,” he added.
When asked, the NCP legislator said he has managed to extend some relief to the affected families.
“However, I am asking more from the government and I have talked to the DC and he is asking the account numbers and I have told all my people to give their account numbers so that emergency relief can be sent to them,” he said.
He said 10 kgs of rice per household have been given along with some money. According to him, people are also helping the affected families. There was no casualty reported during the incident.
Meanwhile, the MLA said crops and other plantations have also been damaged fully. Even the roads are blocked but that has been immediately taken care of by the district administration.
