Over 4000 runners participate in IIT-Guwahati Techniche’s annual Guwahati half marathon
Techniche, the annual Techno-Management fest of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), organised the Guwahati Half Marathon at the Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium, Sarusajai here on Sunday.
The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 4000 runners from Guwahati city and beyond Assam, all joining hands to run for a cleaner tomorrow.
The Guwahati Half Marathon featured two types of runs: the “Spirit Run” spanning 6 kilometres and the challenging “Glory Run” covering 21 kilometres. The theme of the marathon, “Run for a Cleaner Tomorrow,” echoed the spirit of environmental consciousness and community engagement.
The marathon commenced with the Spirit Run at 5:15 am, followed by the prestigious Glory Run at 6:15 am, both starting from the iconic Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Stadium.
Participants showcased incredible resilience and determination as they braved the course, embodying the ethos of health, sustainability, and unity.
The first prize in the Spirit Run Male Category went to Nitish Kumar, 2nd to Sandeep Yadav and the 3rd prize went to Dinesh Kumar.
In the Spirit Run Female category, the first prize went to Gloryfy Kurbah, 2nd to Sangita Bordoloi and 3rd to Padmini Das.
In the Glory Run Male Category, the 1st prize was bagged by Chandan Yadav, the 2nd prize by Pawan Singh and the 3rd prize was bagged by Bijay Deka.
In the Glory Run Female Category, the 1st prize went to Shyamali Singh, 2nd prize to Rinky Kumari Chauhan and the 3rd prize by Anita Das.
Guwahati Half Marathon convener Samyak Sharma, expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are thrilled to witness such massive participation in the Guwahati Half Marathon. It’s inspiring to see individuals from all walks of life coming together to promote fitness and environmental awareness.
