Pala denies sanctioning Rs 30 lakh to PDF MLA for promotion of sports

Congress MP from Shillong Vincent H Pala has categorically denied that he has sanctioned Rs 30 lakh scheme to PDF legislator from Myliem Hamletson Dohling for construction of a football ground at Umlyngka.

“The scheme was never sanctioned to any individual,” Pala said.

He was reacting to the recent claim made by Dohling, who is also a cabinet minister, that he had got Rs 30 lakh from the Shillong MP.

Pala informed that the scheme was sanctioned based on the request of the Umlyngka Sports, Social and Cultural Club.

“The leaders of the Umlyngka Sports, Social and Cultural Club had met and requested me to sanction the particular scheme which I did as part of encouraging them to promote sports for the welfare of our youth,” the MP said.

The football ground at Umlyngka was inaugurated by Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh on February 12.
