Panel suggests need to appoint full time CMD of MeECL: CM
The Independent Inquiry Committee has strongly recommended the state government to appoint a full time Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday informed that from the administrative point of view, the committee had emphasized the need to have a full time leadership.

“Therefore, they have submitted that there should be a full time CMD or a full time CEO that should take forward (administration of the MeECL).”

Stating that the procurement policies were found to be obsolete and old, he said that the committee had suggested the need to review and new systems be put in place. According to him, the department is examining all these aspects.
Moreover, the chief minister informed that in terms of other aspects of procurement, the committee had not found any wrongs in any of them.
