Parents urged to ensure Polio Immunization for children under 5 years
The Intensified Pulse Polio campaign began in West Jaintia Hills District on Monday, with Assistant Commissioner S Phanbuh inaugurating the campaign and administered polio drops to children at 100 bedded MCH Hospital Panaliar, Jowai
Launching the immunization programme, Phanbuh urged the parents to take their children below 5 years to the booth centres to receive Polio drops, for protection and safeguarding of their children from polio.
Dr. Helen J Uriah, District Maternal and Child Health Officer emphasised the need for administering polio drops to children to protect them from lifelong disabilities associated with polio infection. Dr. Helen said immunization is being carried out at all Polio booths centres set up in the various localities of Jowai Town, Health centres and villages to cover all children below 5 years of age.
The immunization campaign starting today, will cover the entire district and will continue till 6th March, 2024 with door-to-door visits on 5th and 6th March, 2024.

District Medical & Health Officer Dr. Evalyneda BV Laloo, Doctors and staff nurses of 100 bedded MCH Panaliar, Jowai. were also present for the inaugural programme.
