Pathaw assures to bring more development to Mawlai constituency if re-elected
Sitting Mawlai MDC Teiborlang Pathaw on Friday assured to bring more development for the benefit and welfare of the people and the constituency if re-elected to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Pathaw filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate at ISBT, Mawiong after he had recently quit the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) ahead of the ADC elections, to be held on February 21.
Speaking to media persons, Pathaw said he has contributed a lot to the constituency during the past six years.
“I have worked very hard and now I leave it to the wisdom of the people of Mawlai to decide on whether I should be re-elected again as their leader because they have seen my contributions to the constituency through various developmental activities,” he added.
He also claimed that the present dispensation in the KHADC has done a good job especially with the passing of many important Bills that will help to further strengthen and protect the indigenous community.
“The Land Act, which recently received the Governor’s assent, will be a big blessing to the people of the region,” Pathaw said.
The sitting MDC also assured, “If I am re-elected as MDC, I assure that I would continue to work harder since there is so much that still needs to be done for the development and upliftment of Mawlai constituency.”
Asked, Pathaw clarified that he had in fact won the 2019 as an independent candidate and this time too the people of the constituency wanted him to contest as an independent candidate.
According to him, a party is just a uniform, it is always the individual which is important.
“If I win, I will have to work, not the party,” he stated.
