PDF demands Congress general secy to tender apology
The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has demanded the Congress national general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala to apologize for allegedly branding the local youth of the state as terrorists.
In a letter to Congress national president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday, PDF general secretary Auspicious L Mawphlang said, “…the party would kindly request you to please take cognizance of this matter and the party also demand an immediate apology by your general secretary Mr Randeep Singh Surjewala.”
Mawphlang said the party expressed its disapproval and disappointment regarding the ostentatious comments made by Surjewala on the current situation in the state.
“By dragging our state with the imbroglio in Afghanistan is utterly gross and unacceptable since we the Khasi-Jaintia people are peace loving communities and want nothing but spirit of unity harmony and brotherhood in our state,” he said.
He also defended that the actions committed by youths on August 15was purely out of anger adding “The youths and the citizens of the state are only using their democratic rights to ensure that peace and normalcy resume in our state and not to create anarchy.”
