PDF urges CM to convene meeting over power crisis issue
People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has urged the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to call for a meeting of Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) to discuss the issue related to the power sector.
“Once the Chief Minister comes back (from the election campaign), we prefer to sit down with all the MDA partners (to discuss the issue),” PDF acting president and cabinet minister Banteidor Lyngdoh told reporters on Thursday.
He said that the power crisis has been raised by the two other coalition partners like the United Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Asked on the UDP’s demand to relieve incumbent power minister James K Sangma from his post, Lyngdoh however said, “We have not discussed with any of our party leaders…we will sit down but we don’t want to give any comment as of now regarding this issue.”
“Of course as a party, we feel that this is not for the people of the state…we want to sit down and find out the truth as this issue is not only there for the last one year but for the past many years…We have to find out what is the root cause regarding the issue related to the MeECL, frequent load shedding, corruption and others,” he stated.
According to him, the PDF would take up the issue seriously with the chief minister after the GHADC polls.
