People to decide against lack of governance under MDA regime: Mukul
Former Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma on Tuesday predicted that the people’s decision in the upcoming bye elections to the three Assembly seats will be against the lack of governance under the NPP-led MDA government.
“People will determine the fate of every candidate and as of now what we see is that with the whole instances of lack of governance which is visible everywhere I know what people will decide,” Sangma told reporters.
His statement came soon after the Election Commission of India had announced bye elections to the three seats – Mawryngkneng, Mawphlang and Rajabala.
On the candidates for the bypolls, Sangma said, “There is a system in the party, we will follow system it is not decided by an individual, we have the Pradesh election committee, then the AICC, so the whole process will be followed and based on that what ultimately will be the final decision will be shared with all of you.”
When asked on the limited time being given to prepare for the bye elections, the Congress leader however said every time when being confronted with this kind of situation of limited time, the party would ensure it utilizes the time accordingly.
“The limited time which is available as per the notification is not only for one political party but for every political party so every political party will look at those spaces available in respect of the time and probably keep pace with the timing,” he said.
Polling will be held on October 30 and counting on November 2.
