Residents of Raliang Donglumsehkot under Laskein C&RD Block, West Jaintia Hills complaint that fire broke out due to a short circuit in the electricity meter at 6 Pm on Monday.

The fire broke out due to negligence of lineman of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited, alleged Sanki Lamare Waheh Shnong Raliang.

“No casualty was reported. The fire broke out in the electricity meter box and transformer causes panic to the villagers and 37 houses were affected in this incident,” Sanki Lamare said.

“We have lodged a complaint with the Assistant Executive Engineer Shangpung Division but no response,” he added.
