Pipsorang gets road connectivity after 78 years; Khandu delivers on his promise near China border
In a landmark achievement, Pipsorang, a remote circle near the Indo-China border in Arunachal Pradesh’s Kra-Daadi district, has been connected by road for the first time in 78 years. Fulfilling a long-standing promise, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, and Urban Development Minister Balo Raja, travelled to Pipsorang from Tali by road, marking a historic moment for the region.
The journey to Tali, once the only unconnected assembly constituency in Arunachal Pradesh, saw a breakthrough in February 2022, when Khandu became the first CM to reach Tali by road. During that visit, he pledged to extend road connectivity further to Pipsorang, a goal that has now been realized.
Congratulating local MLA Jikke Tako, the Rural Works Department (RWD), and the local administration, Khandu urged swift completion of the remaining work. He acknowledged that while the road is still kutcha, it has immensely improved accessibility for the people of Pipsorang and neighbouring villages.
To ensure timely completion, Khandu ordered re-alignment and gradient adjustments to improve road safety, directed engineers to stay on-site, monitor progress, and work closely with contractors and assured full road completion within one month.
The 55 km Tali-Pipsorang road is being executed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Further expansion plans include the Tali-Pipsorang road extension to Haa village, Nyobia to Keba road development, Ripum to Raha village connectivity and Upgradation of Roing to Lodo Kore village road.
The Arunachal Pradesh government is pushing a major infrastructure boost, with Rs 515 crore worth of ongoing projects in the assembly segment. Newly sanctioned projects worth Rs 44.50 crore include infrastructure for the Pipsorang SDO office, development of Paya and Nyorik administrative circles, construction of Tali township roads and an outdoor stadium at Taki to promote youth sports.
With 1,300 villages still unconnected by road, Khandu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring road access for all in the coming years. He also emphasized the importance of constant monitoring, urging local MLA Jikke Tako to stay in his constituency to oversee ongoing and upcoming projects.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated Boa Sango to Neomi Road and Circuit House at Tali.
Additionally, he laid the foundation stones for Tugmar to Guha road under CRIF, Parsi Parlo PWD road (Kopin to Hapuk, Pija to Habak), Tali-Pija PGSY road to Richik and Tali-Pija PMGSY road to Neopum under the Vibrant Village Programme.
The newly opened Tali-Pipsorang road is more than just a milestone—it’s a gateway to development. With improved connectivity, the region can expect better healthcare, education, trade, and overall economic growth. As Arunachal Pradesh accelerates its infrastructure expansion, the government’s vision of a well-connected, prosperous state is steadily becoming a reality.
