Plasma therapy only for severe COVID-19 patients: DHS
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War on Wednesday said that plasma therapy will be done only for severe COVID-19 patients.
Responding to a query by a journalist during a press conference, Dr War said that plasma therapy may be done for cases which are very severe to help them recover faster.
“We will use the plasma only when it desires but that also is a voluntary affair. A person who wants to donate his/her plasma has to come forward voluntarily,” he said.
Having said that, the DHS further added, “many patients who have recovered from the infection have expressed their willingness to donate their plasma for the purpose of treating severe cases.”
A total of 78 positive patients including BSF troopers and civilians have so far recovered from the infection in the state.
The state COVID-19 tally stood at 433 on Wednesday as cases continue to surge in the state. Dr War however said that the spike in the number of cases may reduce after the temporary closure of all entry points to the state is enforced from midnight of July 23 to July 31.
