Police seized heroin in random check in East Jaintia Hills
East Jaintia Hills District Police arrested one person and confiscated 24.76 grams of heroin on Saturday morning.
The suspect, Alfred R Buhril, son of Hrilthanglum Buhril from Lumjingsuk Block A, Madanrting, East Khasi Hills District, was apprehended during a random Naka checking operation at Lumshnong Police Station around 6:30 AM. Buhril was driving a Tata Sumo bearing registration number ML05 Q 6270.
Two soap boxes containing a yellowish/orange powder, suspected to be heroin, were recovered from his vehicle.
Preliminary test results confirmed the substance as heroin, weight 24.76 grams.
Police also seized a mobile phone and the Tata Sumo vehicle. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been initiated against Alfred R Buhril.
