Police to file criminal case against facebook user for fake news

The state police will file a criminal case against a facebook user and the administrators of a facebook page for uploading a post with an intention of creating fake news that the Meghalaya police “will arrest those who oppose CAA and demand ILP”.

Assistant Inspector General of Police (A) GK Iangrai said a facebook user by the name ‘Khasi Paka’ had uploaded a post in a facebook page “Ka Sur U Paidbah” using the name and logo of Meghalaya Police department with an intention of creating fake news that Meghalaya Police will “arrest those who oppose CAA and Demand ILP”.

“In connection with this, a criminal case will be registered against the user of the account ‘Khasi Paka’ and the admins of the Facebook page Ka Sur U Paidbah, under relevant provisions of law,” Iangrai said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The facebook post read -“We will arrest to all who oppose the CAA and Demand ILP, because the problem come from those people. We are here to bring peace in the State.”
