Pradip Kurbah’s Ha Lyngkha Bneng wins top honours at Moscow International Film Festival

Acclaimed filmmaker Pradip Kurbah has brought global recognition to Meghalaya once again, as his latest film Ha Lyngkha Bneng swept major awards at the prestigious Moscow International Film Festival. The film won the NETPAC Award for Best Asian Film, along with Best Film and Best Director in the main competition category.
Taking to Facebook, Kurbah wrote he was “overwhelmed, humbled, and filled with gratitude.” He called the accolades an “unexpected and beautiful surprise,” and shared his heartfelt appreciation for the jury and festival programmers who gave the film space “to breathe and be seen on an international stage.”
Kurbah dedicated the awards to his team—actors, technicians, and crew—calling them the “heartbeat” of the film. He also paid tribute to the people of Meghalaya, saying, “This award is yours too.”
With Ha Lyngkha Bneng, Kurbah continues to bring powerful regional stories to the global forefront, proving once more that local narratives from the Northeast can resonate far and wide.
