Producers set deadline for removal of “Thong Iong Nga” copies on YouTube
Simi Khongtiang, director and producer of Eva_Yan Pictures Production, along with Pyllum Ksoo Production, has spoken out about unauthorized recordings and re-uploads of their film “Thong Iong Nga,” which is exclusively available on Hello Meghalaya, the first OTT platform in Meghalaya.
Simi stated that they are aware of several YouTube channels illegally sharing their content, highlighting that this is a serious violation of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, and international intellectual property laws.
She emphasized the urgency of the matter, demanding that all infringing YouTube channels immediately remove all copies of “Thong Iong Nga” from their platforms and refrain from uploading any content that violates their intellectual property rights.
The producers have set a deadline of October 11 for compliance, warning that failure to do so will lead to the filing of an FIR (First Information Report) against the channels and complaints lodged with YouTube and relevant authorities.
Simi also urged YouTube creators in Meghalaya to create original content that showcases their unique talents and to respect the intellectual property rights of others. She concluded by stating that originality will be appreciated and encouraged creators to stand on their own merit.
