Prohibitory orders in West Jaiñtia Hills for Free & Fair Polls
JOWAI: With the announcement of the general election to the Lok Sabha the District Magistrate of West Jaintia Hills in exercise of power conferred under Section 144 CrPC has issued an order prohibiting from wall writing, pasting posters, papers or defacement in any form or erecting of cutouts, hoardings, banners in public property or public premises, however for putting of banners, pasting of posters in private property or private wall a written permission from the house owner and approval from the office of the District Magistrate is required.
Displaying up of banners on roads and through fares has also been prohibited. No Election meetings rallies and procession will be allowed without taking permission from the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), West Jaintia Hills District and subsequently from the local headman regarding the venue of the meeting.
Loud P.A System will not be allowed to be used between 10.00 PM to 6.00 AM and in case P.A System or loud speakers are used without permission the same will be seize immediately by the local authorities. Carrying of cash above Rs. 50,000/- (Rupees fifty thousand) only by the contesting candidate or supporters is prohibited
This order is extend throughout West Jaintia Hills District and comes into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till Election process is over.
