Pyniaid set to become new KHADC chairman
National People’s Party (NPP) MDC from Sohryngkham Pyniaid Sing Syiem is all set to be elected unopposed to the post of Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), election of which will be held on Wednesday.
The election is necessitated following the resignation of former KHADC chairman and Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah MDC Pynshngainlang N Syiem, last week.
Pyniaid, a former deputy CEM, is the lone candidate who submitted his nomination papers before KHADC secretary legislative on Tuesday.
This was after the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) has decided not to put up any candidate for the post.
He was accompanied by the Chief executive member (CEM) Titosstarwell Chyne and members of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
After filing his nominations, Pyniaid expressed his gratefulness to all the 20 members of the UDA for unanimously supporting his candidature.
He also said that the reason for the opposition not fielding any candidate is also an indication that they also supported him.
“This shows that the House is united and I express my gratefulness to all members,” the former deputy CEM added.
