The Border Security Force Meghalaya organized an awareness program aimed at preventing rabies and recognizing its symptoms on May 9 at the Muktapur community hall in the West Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. Following two reported cases of rabies in the Muktapur bordering area, one from the local bordering village Lakroh village and the other from Muktapur village, BSF troops evacuated the affected individuals to Civil Hospital Shillong using BSF ambulances.
Dr. Prajwal from the Vet Department of Sector HQ Jowai led the program, educating the local community on the consequences of rabies and crucial prevention measures. His lecture emphasized timely vaccinations, responsible pet ownership, and seeking immediate medical attention after animal bites.
The event, graced by the presence of the local BSF Coy Commander, villagers and Dr. Seiboklang Buam from the Veterinary Hospital Muktapur, highlighted a collaborative effort to address public health concerns and ensure the well-being of bordering communities.
