Rahman sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for kidnapping minor girl in West Garo Hills

The Court of Special Judge, POCSO, West Garo Hills District has convicted and sentenced Md. Anishur Rahman @ Rahul to seven years imprisonment for kidnapping a 14 years old girl six years ago.

Police said on 18.03.2017, Tura Women PS received information on 14.03.2017 @ 10:30 AM that one 14 years old girl was found missing while she was going to Chibinang by a tempo.

Police said that Md. Anishur Rahman @ Rahul tempo driver S/O Md. Sarhab Ali, owner of a furniture shop, R/o Chibinang weekly market, PO Chibinang, PS Phulbari, West Garo Hills had kidnapped and – kept her in an undisclosed location.

A case vide Tura Women PS Case No. 17(3)2017 u/s 366A/368 IPC R/W sec 3(a)/4 POCSO Act was registered and investigation was entrusted to UB/WPSI Renu D. Momin.

The investigation was done meticulously and the charge sheet was submitted on 31.01.2018.

After completion of trial, the Court of Special Judge, POCSO, West Garo Hills, Tura convicted the accused under Section 3(a)/4 POCSO Act and sentenced him to 7 Years imprisonment and fine of Rs. 5,000/- for the offence u/s 3(a)/4 POCSO Act. In default of payment of fine, the convict shall undergo additional Simple Imprisonment for another 3 (three) months”.
