Raj Bhavan Assam celebrates foundation day of Arunachal Pradesh & Mizoram
In a vibrant celebration of India’s cultural richness and unity, Raj Bhavan Assam, under the leadership of Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, commemorated the foundation day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram at the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University auditorium on Sunday.
Governor Acharya emphasized that celebrating statehood days under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a vital component of the ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ initiative. He highlighted how such events foster national unity, mutual cooperation, and cultural appreciation, strengthening the bond among states.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Acharya underscored India’s ‘Unity in Diversity’ and the distinct identity each state brings with its language, art, and traditions. “India’s strength lies in its diversity, and this unity makes our nation unique on the global stage,” he said. He further stated that celebrating statehood days provides citizens with an opportunity to learn about and appreciate different traditions, folk arts, and historical contributions, promoting dialogue and collaboration across regions.
Highlighting the strategic importance of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor lauded its role in safeguarding India’s borders and commended the dedication of the army, paramilitary forces, and local citizens. He acknowledged their patriotism and valor, describing them as a source of inspiration for the nation.

Discussing Mizoram, Governor Acharya praised its rich cultural heritage, renowned music and dance traditions, and social harmony. He applauded the Mizo society for successfully blending traditional values with modernity. He also emphasized the state’s environmental contributions, lauding its pristine hills, rivers, waterfalls, and forests, and its exemplary role in conservation and wildlife protection. “Mizoram plays a crucial role in India’s environmental sustainability and climate balance,” he remarked.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, Gauhati High Court Justice Michael Zothankhuma, Joint Secretary Bidit Das, KKHS Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das, Addl. Resident Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh Dr. Dilip Kumar Chutia, Vice President of Nyishi Elite Society Er. Toko Onujalong, and other notable guests. Together, they honored the cultural heritage and distinct identities of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, reaffirming the spirit of national integration and unity.
