Raj Bhavan, Shillong, and NEEPCO signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, reinforcing their commitment to eradicating tuberculosis in Meghalaya.

The signing ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan, was graced by the Governor of Meghalaya C.H. Vijayashankar, Major General R.K. Jha, AVSM (Retd.) Director (Personnel), NEEPCO, NEEPCO officials, and state health representatives.

The Governor commended NEEPCO for its proactive role and stressed the importance of addressing the root causes of TB.

As part of its CSR initiative, NEEPCO will provide nutritional support to 250 TB patients through monthly food baskets containing cereals, millets, pulses, eggs, and milk.

State TB Officer Dr. M. Syiemlieh highlighted that Meghalaya currently has 3,108 active TB patients and appealed for more Nikshay Mitras (donors) to join the fight.

The Governor’s personal involvement, including direct support to TB-affected families, has been a source of encouragement.

This collaboration marks a significant step in Meghalaya’s efforts to eliminate TB, underscoring the power of public-private partnerships in tackling public health challenges.
