Rajya Sabha MP announces decision to adopt 3 more villages in Meghalaya
Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha on Thursday announced his decision to adopt three more villages in Meghalaya.
“I have decided to adopt Mawmang, Mawshut and Sder village,” Sinha told reporters.
He said the decision was taken after the elders of these villages have approached him.
Sinha informed that these villages are presently not accessible by roads and one has to trek for two and half hours from Kongthong village to reach them.
“I will go to these villages to meet the people,” the parliamentarian said even as he informed that a virtual clinic will be set up in the three villages by the end of next month.
The concerned deputy commissioner would be visiting Kongthong on April 16 with line department officers to address the issues there, Sinha said.
Sinha had adopted Kongthong village in 2019.
Under his direct supervision, over 200 dustbins, a sanitary napkin vending machine were installed, and six public toilets were built at Kongthong village.
Sinha also distributed over 400 honey boxes and kits to the villagers there on Wednesday.
To further promote the village and its unique beauty, the MP said he would invite Bollywood producers to shoot their films in the vicinity of Kongthong
