RAMP program launches 15-day training for trainees from East and West Jaintia Hills
The first batch of trainees under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme commenced on October 23 with an Executive Course on Electrical Appliances. The trainees include individuals from both East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills Districts.
Over the next 15 days, 25 trainees will receive advanced training at Bosco Pnar Multipurpose Vocational Training Centre, Mihmyntdu, Jowai, focusing on practical skills and innovative techniques in the electrical appliance field.
Fr. Francisco Dhar, Principal of Bosco Pnar, highlighted the importance of using the training not only for personal growth but also to help others and become role models. He encouraged the trainees to fully engage with the programme and share positive ideas.
Akashdeep Das from the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU), RAMP, in his keynote address, noted that the office would offer various executive courses under the RAMP programme, allowing trainees to select the course that best suits their interests. He explained that the programme aims to provide advanced training to participants from all 12 districts, focusing on enhancing technical skills and market readiness. Das added that the courses are designed to improve the capabilities of MSMEs, helping them thrive in a competitive environment.
Eborki Pyrbot, Functional Manager at DCIC, motivated the participants to remain resilient despite challenges. He emphasised that even if they do not succeed in one trade, the RAMP programme provides other opportunities. Pyrbot encouraged them to take full advantage of the free training and assured them that the DCIC office is available for assistance.
P. Toi, Chief Executive Officer of MKVIB, in his inaugural address, stated that completing the training could lead to a bright future. He encouraged participants to choose a trade they are passionate about and actively participate in the training, while also sharing their knowledge with others to inspire them to take advantage of the department’s free courses.
The programme was chaired by Fr. Abialstar Kharsohtun, Administrator of Bosco Pnar, and S. Pale, IPO, DCIC, Jowai. It was organised by the Department of Commerce and Industries, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Bosco Pnar Multipurpose Vocational Training Centre, Mihmyntdu, Jowai.
