Ranji Trophy: Sridam Paul’s 146 puts Tripura in command on Day 2 against Meghalaya
Tripura took command of proceedings on the second day of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match against Meghalaya at the MCA Ground in Polo on Saturday.
Resuming play on 29/2 after just 7.2 overs were bowled yesterday, the visitors amassed 346/6 in 74.2 overs when bad light again halted the action this afternoon.
Sridam Paul played a masterful innings, scoring 146 for Tripura, which included 20 fours and two sixes. His dismissal came after an attempted big hoick down the ground, resulting in a catch by Aryan Borah at mid-on off the bowling of Swarajeet Das (1/26 in 5 overs).
Akash Kumar Choudhary (2/100 in 25.2 overs) dismissed Tripura captain Mandeep Singh for 59. Mandeep’s drive was caught by Bamanbha Shangpliang on the off side in front of square.
Mandeep and Sridam shared a valuable partnership of 132 runs for the fourth wicket, significantly contributing to their team’s cause.
The other wickets to fall today were taken by Dippu Sangma (1/76 in 19 overs) and Aryan Borah (1/29 in 4 overs).
MB Mura Singh took a shine to Aryan’s left-arm spin, hitting him for a couple of sixes. He remains unbeaten on 53, while his partner at the crease, S. Sharath, is also not out on 54.
