Rapsang says he is more incline to join NPP, hits back at Paul Lyngdoh over allegation to shift Harijans to Mawbah
Suspended Congress legislator from West Shillong Mohendro Rapsang on Tuesday said his inclination is more towards joining the National People’s Party (NPP).
Speaking to reporters, Rapsang said, “Most probably my inclination is to join the NPP. I have spoken to my people and they also want me to join the NPP.”
When asked, Rapsang said not only the BJP but many political parties have also approached and requested him to join their fold.
“Congress too is still waiting for me to contest from the party. Not only BJP but many parties have also approached me to join them. However, we will see that I will decide from which party I will contest but my inclination is with the NPP,” he said
UDP leader and former MLA Paul Lyngdoh had recently alleged the sitting MLA of being part of the decision making process to relocate the residents of Sweepers’ Colony to RP Chest Hospital in Mawbah.
Refuting the allegation, Rapsang said, “Paul Lyngdoh should know one thing I am not a cabinet minister, I am just supporting the government from outside like all other parties supporting the government.”
He said that the decision making for the shifting of the residents of the Sweepers’ Colony depends entirely on the government.
“I am not part and parcel of the decision making in that shifting of the Harijans to my constituency,” he said.
The MLA said that he stands with the dorbar shnong of Mawbah that “we strongly oppose this move by the government for relocation (of the Harijans) in my constituency.”
