Recipients for Meghalaya Day 2019 award named
SILLONG: Meghalaya Cabinet today approved the names of following personalities on the basis of the recommendation of the Advisory Committee for Meghalaya Day Awards 2019.
U Tirot Singh Award for Arts and Literature: Dr. P Nongtdu, Co-Founder and Principal of Jaiñtia Eastern College. He has authored a number of books in the recent past.
Pa Togan Sangma Award for Social Service: Rev. George Mamalassari, former Bishop of Tura Diocese for contributions towards uplift of socio – economic conditions of tribal in Garo Hills, Meghalaya for almost 60 years.
U Kiang Nangbah Award for Sports: Eugene K. Marak, 5th Dan Taekwondo Black belt and Master Coach. Gold Medalist at the Asian Continent Taekwondo Championship held in Pokhara Nepal in 2016
