Rehabilitation of Umiam dam to be completed by August: Mondal

Power Minister AT Mondal on Thursday informed that the rehabilitation of the Umiam dam and retrofitting of the bridge are being targeted to be completed within the first week of August.

Speaking to reporters, Mondal said, “We are working on it and I am very confident that it will be completed in due course of time by July or first week of August.”

Mondal informed that vehicles will be allowed to pass through the bridge in a zigzag way.

“We are also working to allow vehicles to pass in a zigzag way so that we can work better to complete the work,” he said.

According to him, traffic flow is okay as there is no problem.

The minister said that the rehabilitation work is being reviewed almost on a weekly basis.
