Reject power connection applications: KSU to MeECL

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has demanded the Meghalaya Energy Corportation Limited (MeECL) to reject the applications submitted by residents of Sweeper’s Colony for electricity connection. 

A delegation of the KSU led assistant organizing secretary Ostarnic Marbaniang on Friday met the MeECL authority for its immediate intervention into the matter. 

“We have demanded the MeECL authority not to entertain such applications till the issue relating to Sweeper’s Colony is resolved,” general secretary of the KSU Donald V Thabah said. 

Thabah said the Union is also surprise as to how the residents are applying for electricity connection when verification as to whether they are employees of the Shillong Municipal Board is still pending.
