Release our salaries by Nov 18th or face the music: Meghalaya SSA School Association
SHILLONG: Issuing an ultimatum till November 18, next for payment of their three months salaries, the Meghalaya SSA School Association, Central Body today threatened to come out to the street if the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance’s Government fails to meet their demands.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary of Education Department, Meghalaya, the Association, Central Body informed him of the present situation and hardship faced by the 5814 Lower Primary teachers and 6727 Upper Primary teachers working under “Samagra Shiksha’ due to non-released of salary from the month of August, September and October of current academic year.
“We are being pressurized from all angles apart to manage our family daily needs and requirements, some teachers have to borrow money from other sources for hospitals bills, medical bills and so on,” the letter said.
They also asserted that the academic session of all the schools in Meghalaya will be close by Mid-December, teaches are getting pressure from school authorities to pay their kids tuition fees within this month which has put teachers into depression.
The Association informed that during the general executive meeting of the Association held on November 8, last had taken a resolution to request the State Government release the salary before November 18th, next failing which they will have to come out to the street.
