Releasing of wages under MGNREGS is continuous process: Mondal
Minister in-charge Community & Rural Development, AT Mondal on Thursday said as far as the wages component of the MGNREGS is concerned, the department is paying continuously whenever the government of India transfers the funds.
“So it (the wages component) has nothing to do with the state government. It is directly transferred to the account of job card holders,” Mondal told reporters.
“But there may be some dues in some village employment councils (VECs) and these dues are because it is a continuous process, the moment of work is done, it is uploaded in the software and there is always some pending. The moment that bill pending is clear, automatically some other bills accumulated, so it is a continuous process, so also the material component is there, not that it is pending or stagnant, we are continuously paying as soon as we get the central share release, we pay to the VECs. Again here also by the meantime you pay some dues, some new dues got accumulated, so it is a continuous process,” he added.
On the allegations of corruption in the VECs, the minister said wherever there are allegations, inquiry is instituted.
“…we have told the BDOs to look in all the aspects as per the constitution of VEC and they are taking care of it,” he added.
