Returnees to pay for transportation from June 11: Tynsong
The state government has decided to provide transportation for bringing back people stranded in different parts of the country on payment basis from June 11.
After a review meeting on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that stranded people coming back to the state after June 11 will have to bear the transportation charges.
“Of course, transportation facility will be made by the transport department but it will be on payment basis from June 11 onwards,” he said.
Tynsong informed that the government had earlier decided to provide free transportation to stranded people till June 10.
Nearly 14,000 people stranded in various parts of the country due to COVID-19 lockdown, have come back to the state. The Deputy Chief Minister said a total of 13,990 have returned till Monday afternoon.
Asked, he said after seeing people are still continuing to come back, the government has decided not to continue the temporary camps set up at the railway station and airport.
