Revolution condemn Governor’s remarks
The Revolution – ‘Iada la ka Ri’ led by former Nongkrem legislator Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit on Sunday condemned the Governor Tathagata Roy for his recent statement that the condition of the non-tribals living in Meghalaya is similar to that of the hindu pandits in Kashmir.
“We never expected that this kind of biased and fabricated statement will come from a person who holds the highest constitutional office in the State and reside among the peace loving people of our beloved land,” Basaiawmoit said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
Urging the indigenous community not to take his statement lightly, Basaiawmoit further alleged, “perhaps he (Roy)was made to come to our State with a pre-planned mind to provoke and stir up the minds of the indigenous people of Meghalaya so that they will react thoughtlessly.”
“However, the Ïada la ka Ri urge upon the indigenous people of the State to not fall into this sinister plan,” the former MLA said.
Further reacting to Roy’s frequent statements against the interest of the indigenous people, Basaiawmoit said that it only suggest that he was sent purposely by the Central government to create a turmoil in our state for reasons best known to them.
“We would like to state that this kind of a person is not needed in our state,” he stated.
