Ri Bhoi College bagged best NSS unit
The NSS Unit, North Eastern Hill University on Saturday celebrated the 53rd NSS Foundation Day at a programme held at the Multi – Use Convention Hall, NEHU, Shillong. Dr W R Kharlukhi, Rajya Sabha MP attended the inaugural programme as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kharlukhi expressed happiness to be part of the programme since he was also an active volunteer of the NSS during his college days. He also congratulated the NSS for rendering its services through various social programmes which are highly effective and made a huge impact in people’s lives.
He also dwelled on the problems faced by the educated youth in the state where the unemployment scenario is on the rise. He urged the students to develop a positive attitude, to face their challenges and to look for avenues where they can create a platform to become job creators rather than job seekers.
He also congratulated the various NSS units who had come from all over the state to be part of the programme and wished them great success in their future endeavours.
During the day the University level NSS Awards were also given to Units (Colleges), Programme Officers and Volunteers in recognition of their services to the community for the year 2022-2023.

Best NSS Volunteers; Ms Naphisaroi Kharbuli, NSS Unit, NEHU, Shillong, Ms Kerdarilin Khongwir, Lady Keane College, Shillong, Mr Armstrong Lyngdoh, Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh, Mr Suklang Paul Kurbah, NSS Unit, NEHU, Shillong and Mr Pyndemlang Lyting, Shillong College, Shillong.
Best NSS Programme Officers; Mrs Iasuklang Kharumnuid, St Mary’s College, Shillong and Mrs Yomica V Syiemlieh, Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh.
Best NSS Unit went to Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh.
Others who were present included Dr M M Khymdeit, Programme Coordinator, NSS, NEHU, Shri F Rumnong, State NSS Officer, Meghalaya and Prof P S Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, Shillong among others.
