Road safety awareness campaign to cover various locations in West Jaintia Hills

The Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Level Road Safety Committee, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed that as part of the road Safety measures and to prevent any fatal Motor Vehicles accidents and ensure the safety of all road users. The District Level Road Safety Committee has requested both two-wheeler riders and Pillion riders to wear helmets while riding and occupants in vehicles to wear seat belts for their own safety.  

To raise awareness, the District Level Safety Committee will be conducting an awareness drive at Wahiajer/ Ummulong on March 4, at Amlarem on March 5, and March 6 at Iawmusiang, Jowai. On March 7, 2024, the District Level Road Safety Committee will also conduct mobile camp and special drive at Jowai By-Pass, Khliehtyrshi to check rear side of Trucks and Tractor Trolley for Retro reflective sheeting to avoid rear collision and on 8^th March, 2024 Mobile camp at Mihmyntdu near DTO office to check use of seat belts, Helmets etc.  

It has also been mentioned that any violation detection after the awareness drive will be booked under relevant Sections of the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019.
